Career History

Over the last 12 years I have worked for 5 leading international IT companies including:











Initially working as a Technical Support Engineer identifying and resolving issues with Network Interface Cards on Multitude Network Operating Systems. Later specialised in ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) an advanced Data Networking Technology, when I moved to the training department and became an instructor teaching all aspects implementing ATM in a mixed Voice & Data Network. Joined a Microsoft Training company in London to head a new team delivering Data Networking training for Lucent Technologies. Whilst in this role I studied Microsoft NT4 Server, Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame, which I also taught. Joined Lucent, which quickly spun-off to form Avaya Communications where I was given the responsibility of leading the Data Networking Delivery Team for the EMEA region within the Avaya University comprising 12 instructors spread all over Europe and the Middle East.

Qualifications

  • B.Eng.(Hon's.) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1989
  • FLCE: Fore Systems ATM LAN Certified Engineer in 1999
  • Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) in 2000
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) for NT4 in 2000

Product & Technology Knowledge

Networking Technology:
Ethernet, ATM, Token Ring, (FDDI), IP, IPX, OSPF & RIP Routing etc, E1/T1 (ATM, FR, CAS, CCS, ISDN), Voice (E&M, FXS/FXO, compression, CELPs), and some Frame Relay, Serial Comms, SNA and X.25. Wireless (WiFi), Firewall and VPNs.
Client/Server Operating Systems:
DOS, Win3.1, Win3.11, Win95, Win98, Win2000, NT4 Workstation and Server, Terminal Server, Citrix MetaFrame Server and Client, and a little experience with Unix in the form of Solaris.
Networking Products:
Fore Systems (bought by Marconi) [LE and ASX ATM switches 155 to 4000, and other LAN/WAN devices]. Avaya's Full Cajun range; P110, P120, P130, P220, P330, P550, P882, M770; ClearTrac/Netperformer range (FRADs); IP Office (Network Alchemy Argent range a Mini ISDN PBX)] and some Cisco routing.
